Description :

South of Louisburgh there is an excellent variety of sea-level lakes and huge beaches. There are numerous car parks, most with portaloo toilet facilities during summer.

Directions :

Drive through Louisburgh on the R378, heading SW. Having left the village, a series of right hand turns takes you to various lakes and beaches, the first of which leads to Roonagh pier.

Best time : Autumn / winter

Shelduck, Whooper Swan, White-fronted Goose, Curlew, Chough, Teal, Little Egret, gulls.
