Best Time to Visit : Spring & Summer

The mixed, mostly broadleaf wood at Enniscoe is wonderful for spotting many species of woodland birds, including Blackbird, Song Thrush, Wren, Robin, etc. It is a particularly good place to see birds that can be difficult to spot, such as Goldcrest, Treecreeper and Jay. The cacophony of singing birds here during springtime is a real treat.

Rare / Scarce / Unusual Birds:

Great Sptted Woodpecker – Mayo’s 5th record of this bird, quietly expanding across Ireland since its arrival back in the country in 2007, was confirmed at Enniscoe in Feb/March 2022.
